Why was my license suspended?
You were convicted in court for reckless driving. The court sends us this information so we can update your driving record to show that your license is suspended. When your suspension is cleared it will be taken off your driving record.
How long will my license be suspended?
30 days.
Can I get a restricted license?
- As long as you don't have any other suspensions that would prevent us from issuing you one, you may get an Occupational Restricted License (ORL).
- If your reckless driving conviction was on or after August 1, 2012 and reduced from a drug or alcohol related offense, you may get an Ignition Interlock License (IIL).
Can I contest or appeal this?
Yes. You may request an administrative review within 15 days from the date on your suspension letter. Your suspension letter includes a form to request a review of the suspension.
What do I need to do to get my license back?
When you're eligible to reinstate your driver license, you:
- Must file a proof of financial responsibility (SR-22), for 3 years.
- Must pay:
- A $75 reissue fee
- and
- All required driver licensing fees.
- May need to install an Ignition Interlock Device for at least 6 months, if you were convicted of reckless driving but originally arrested for one of the following:
- Alcohol or drug related vehicular homicide.
- Alcohol or drug related vehicular assault.
- Driving under the influence (DUI) with 1 or more prior offenses within 7 years, as defined in RCW 46.61.5055.
