Renew your license
- You must renew your license every 2 years.
- You can renew up to 120 days before your license expires.
- The doing business as (DBA) name and assumed names renew when you renew your firm license.
- There will be a penalty fee if you don't renew before your license expires.
Renewal requirements
- Update your contact information online and release assumed names, if necessary, before you renew your license.
- If you want to add a new assumed name, apply immediately after your renewal.

You can renew your license online or by mail.
Renew your license online
You'll receive your license faster by renewing and paying online. Assumed name fees will be applied for each name not released and the renewal will not be complete if not paid in full.

Renew your license by mail
Complete a Real Estate Firm/Branch License Renewal form and mail with a check or money order (payable to Department of Licensing) for the renewal fee to:

Update your firm or branch license
Update your contact information, address, designated broker, or branch manager
Log into SecureAccess Washington (SAW) or create an account to update your license online.
Things you can update:
- Name and contact information
- Firm or branch mailing or physical address (must be Washington address)
- Designated broker
- Branch manager
If you updated your primary address and want a license showing the new address, you can print your own license.
Update your firm name
Follow the steps below to change your firm name. Firm name changes must be done by mail.
1. Check name availability
Before submitting your name change application, check if the name you want is available.
Get your firm name approved by emailing Real Estate Regulatory a brief cover letter with your name, contact information, desired firm name, and any DBA names. You'll receive a reply within 5-7 business days.
If we approve it, call the Secretary of State (SOS) at 360-725-0377. If the Unified Business Identifier (UBI) number is changed by SOS, you must submit a new firm application form and close the existing firm.
2. Submit your application
Mail a completed Real Estate Change of Firm Name or Add/Change DBA Name form and any required documents to:
