Support is available for DOL customers impacted by Washington wildfires.
On August 10, 2026, Governor Bob Ferguson signed an emergency proclamation suspending state laws to help those impacted by Washington’s devastating wildfires.
This emergency proclamation allows the Department of Licensing to provide the following relief:
Driver licenses and ID cards
Effective immediately, customers can get a no-charge replacement driver license or ID card if theirs was lost because of wildfire.
- The transaction must be done in person at the Disaster Assistance Center in Spokane or at a driver licensing office.
- The Disaster Assistance Center provides walk-in services and hours of operation are posted on their website.
- Customers visiting a driver licensing office for replacements due to wildfire can schedule an appointment or walk in for services.
- No proof is required; customers can attest the loss is due to wildfire.
- These no-charge replacements are only available during the state of emergency.
Customers who are unable to renew their driver license or ID card within 60 days due to wildfire will not be charged a late fee.
Vehicle and vessel titles
Effective Wednesday, Aug. 12, Customers can get a no-charge vehicle or vessel title replacement if theirs was lost because of wildfire.
- The transaction must be done in person at a vehicle licensing office.
- No proof is required; customers can attest the loss is due to wildfire.
- These no-charge replacements are only available during the state of emergency.
- Immediate, in-person physical titles will still require the $50 Quick Title Fee.
Business and professional licenses
Effective immediately, customers with DOL-issued business or professional licenses can renew their licenses late and without penalty if impacted by wildfires.
