Support is available for DOL customers impacted by Washington wildfires.
On August 10, 2026, Governor Bob Ferguson signed an emergency proclamation suspending state laws to help those impacted by Washington’s devastating wildfires.
This emergency proclamation allows the Department of Licensing to provide the following relief:
Driver licenses and ID cards
Effective immediately, customers can get a no-charge replacement driver license or ID card if theirs was lost because of wildfire.
- No proof is required; customers can attest the loss is due to wildfire.
- The transaction must be done in person at a driver licensing office or the Disaster Assistance Center in Spokane.
- Customers asking for DL/ID card replacements due to wildfire will be a priority and will be seen without an appointment.
Customers who are unable to renew their driver license or ID card within 60 days due to wildfire will not be charged a late fee.
Vehicle and vessel titles
Effective Wednesday, Aug. 12, Customers can get a no-charge vehicle or vessel title replacement if theirs was lost because of wildfire.
- Service and filing fees will be waived.
- No proof is required; customers can attest the loss is due to wildfire.
- The transaction must be done in person at a vehicle licensing office.
- These no-charge replacements are only available during the state of emergency.
Business and professional licenses
Effective immediately, customers with DOL-issued business or professional licenses can renew their licenses late and without penalty if impacted by wildfires.
