Notice to limousine carriers at cruise ship terminals
Complaints regarding limousines improperly operating at cruise ship terminals have prompted us to take the following immediate corrective actions:
- Increased limousine law enforcement: City of Seattle inspectors and Port of Seattle Police will add patrols at Seattle piers.
- More citations: Patrols will cite limousine carriers for soliciting, obstructing, lack of records, operating as a taxi, and other charges authorized in State law (Chapter 46.72A RCW), State rule (Chapter 308-83 WAC) and City and Port regulations.
- Quick complaint follow-up: Limousine complaints from piers will be prioritized and investigated quickly, potentially leading to charges.
- Audits: Carriers found operating illegally will more likely be audited this year, potentially resulting in significant fines and/or license suspension.
Remember:
- Do not: Solicit, arrange, or accept a new fare while you are at the terminal. All fares must be prearranged and you must show proof of that when stopped.
- Do not: Obstruct traffic by cruising for fares or waiting illegally in designated parking, drop-off or pickup areas. Follow limousine laws and local traffic and business regulations or be fined or suspended.
