You must be licensed to teach motorcycle safety skills or administer motorcycle safety testing.
How to apply
Follow these steps to apply for your motorcycle safety examiner or instructor license.
1. Meet the requirements
Examiner requirements
To get a motorcycle safety examiner license, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a current and valid driver license or state ID card
- Have no disqualifying convictions
Instructor requirements
To get a motorcycle safety instructor license, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a current and valid driver license for a minimum of 3 years
- Have a current and valid motorcycle endorsement for the curriculum you want to teach
- Have an acceptable driving record
- Have no disqualifying convictions
- Have certification in a Washington Motorcycle Safety Program approved curriculum
- Be certified in basic first aid
2. Gather the necessary documents
- Signed copy of the Examiner and Instructor Professional Standards
- Front and back copies of your current driver license or state ID card
- Proof of curriculum certification(s) if you're applying for an instructor license
3. Submit your application online
