Renew your license
- Your license expires every 2 years, on your birthday
- You can renew up to 120 days before your license expires
- There is a $70 late fee if you don't renew before it expires
Renewal requirements
Make sure you have completed the required 24 hours of continuing education. Keep records of your professional development in case we ask you for them during an audit. Learn more about continuing education and audits.

Renew your license by mail
To renew your license by mail, follow the instructions on your renewal notice.
If you did not receive a renewal notice, complete a Licensed Home Inspector Renewal Application form (only available in English) and submit it along with the appropriate renewal fee.
If your license expires or gets canceled
We consider you unlicensed if your license expires or gets canceled, and we may fine or discipline you if you engage in any unlicensed activity.

Update your name or contact information, or request a duplicate license using the method that works best for you.
Duplicate licenses cost $5 each.
Update your license or request a duplicate online
You can update your license or request a duplicate copy online at any time by logging into SAW.
You can print a copy of your license that reflects your changes for free, or we can mail a new copy of your license that reflects your changes to you for $5.

Send an email with your changes to DOLINTHomeInspectors@dol.wa.gov.
If you are updating your name, you must provide official proof of your name change. We accept any of the following:
- A certified copy of your marriage license or certificate
- A court document
- Copies of both your old and new driver licenses
