What can I do at a driver licensing office?

Driver licensing offices are conveniently located across the state and can help you take care of many different things like:

  • Get your first-time driver license or renew a license.
  • Get or renew your ID card.
  • Get or renew an enhanced driver license (EDL) or enhanced ID (EID).
  • Get or renew a commercial driver license (CDL) or commercial learner's permit (CLP).
  • Change your name, address, or demographic information on your license or ID.
  • Take a knowledge or drive test to get your driver license.
  • Take a CDL knowledge test.
  • Get a copy of your driving record.

Driver licensing offices do not offer ⁠vehicle and boat or ⁠prorate and fuel tax services.

2. Make an appointment

You don’t need an appointment to visit a driver licensing office unless you are taking a drive or knowledge test to get your license, but we strongly encourage you to make one. There may be a long wait to walk in, and if the office is at capacity, you may be asked to go to another office or try back another time.
