Learn how to replace your driver license or learner's permit if it is lost or stolen.
Before you get started
If you order a replacement driver license or permit, we'll mail it to the address we have on file. If needed, update your address before requesting a replacement license or permit. We can't forward replacement licenses or permits to a new address.
Your replacement license or permit will have the same format as the one you're replacing.
- If your license or permit had a horizontal format and photo, so will your replacement.
- If your license or permit had a vertical format and photo, so will your replacement.
- If you had a vertical card and it's 5 days or less before your 21st birthday, we'll replace it with a horizontal card.
If you're replacing your license online or by phone, you can order a replacement up to 3 times a year.
