Young Driver Safety listening sessions

ESHB 1878 Improving Young Driver Safety passed in 2025. It has several requirements that we're implementing over the next 6 years. To ensure the changes have the intended impact, the we're working to collaborate with:

  • Customers.
  • Families.
  • Industry partners.
  • Other impacted entities.

Part of this work required by law is rulemaking. We'll conduct this specific rulemaking series to establish or update the following requirements:

  • Expanded age requirements for driver education
  • Financial assistance using vouchers for driver training education
  • Behind-the-wheel learning standards and hardship allowances
  • Self-paced online classroom
  • Electronic translation device policies
  • Technical cleanup for clarity and consistency

Share your input on upcoming rulemaking
